Another dull, depressing and soul destroying start to yet another day with yet more easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea and even a little bit of light rain and drizzle.

Last night was slightly cooler than of late with an overnight minimum temperature of 13.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 16°C here in Edinburgh.

Hot one here today, 25.0c now , think our max will depend on how much cloud builds up as it is forecast to later, perhaps a shower.

In complete contrast to that, there are absolutely no signs whatsoever, of any sunshine here in Edinburgh as we continue to be plagued by constant grey skies and yet more easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea (you may well wonder why I always refer to our weather as boring, but it really doesn't get any more boring than this which it tends to be like a lot of the time).

As a result of that, the temperatures are also refusing to rise here, and remain stuck at around 18°C here in Edinburgh as at 12 noon.

Back in 2019, we had a temperature of 31.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank (and this has been a much better summer overall than what we had then), so I see no reason why the Lakes can't get those sorts of temperatures.

Here in Edinburgh, that all seems a very long way away now. It's not quite as misty as it was a few hours ago, but we continue to be stuck under a lot of thick cloud and easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea which means that we can't even get up to 20°C here now, let alone 30°C.

Currently around 19°C here in Edinburgh as at 2pm this afternoon, as the temperature keeps on refusing to rise here.

Here in Edinburgh, the Sun is finally starting to break through at long last but since it is now approaching teatime, it is now a bit late in the day for that in my books and as at 4pm this afternoon, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank had still not quite managed to even reach 20°C.

Another vile day from this awful July which gets ever closer to chalking up even more sunless days than July 2012.
