We've just had quite a heavy snow shower here which has left a covering over the lawn and on top of our box hedge.

Mostly sunny here warm in sun today. We had a very light rain shower that turned icy/sleety before clearing in afternoon. Showers decaying. Been a while since we have seen these sort of April wintry showers.from a northerly.

The upper band of the same cluster passed us at the thinnest point, disappointingly, and we had snow pellets - dusting grass and garage roof in their white pellets, and just the odd flake of snow at the end. Was your shower proper snow throughout?

Glad to hear you still have a box hedge: I just spent a week digging up mine - which has box blight, and replanting with Ilex crenata - which I am hoping will perform the same job, but the stock I bought seems a bit straggly to me as potted; I’ll let you know if it works. Hope you stay blight free though.

This is now my fifth snow giving cold snap this winter: for many years I don't see a flake all winter - so this has been a cracker, all things considering. No real sign of proper warmth right up to the 27th on the models...

Looking out at 05.30hrs - roads here appear wet but a thin layer of snow on cars and lawns still. R

Thick snow settling everywhere. Ruining todays planned cricket. Unbelievable. Fed up with the weather in this sodding country.

You're so jammy - what I wouldn't give to have settling snow in April, not that it's happened IMBY for over 35 years...

This is as close as I'll get to it - the wolf centre, in the hills to the SW of Reading.

I was gobsmacked when I went into the bathroom this morning to see white through the obscure-glazed window. Looked out of another window and saw everything barring roads and pavements white with close to 1cm of snow.

I thought it was easing off but in the last few minutes it has picked up again, heavy proper snowflakes falling and 1-2cm of snow on favoured surfaces!

Latest settling snow here since 1981 (April 26 I think that was). Beats the April 6 event in 2008.

Just as it started to settle on the paths it is easing off now, and looking at the radar that might be it (although my app reckons it is going on for at least another hour or two).

Light to moderate snow shower here which during the heavier bits has settled on the grass and some of the roofs. Comes after an overnight low of -1.5c.

Bit of a contrast to last year!
