Global temperature anomally at 0 degrees C..
Seems a slight change can have huge affects?
SST'S at 0..3 C anomally.
Best thing is to stop saving turtles and let nature take it's course..imo.

If they are put back to sea they will die eitherway ,,,Why interfere with nature?.

That warm air creating the high tornado risk has also pushed up in to the north east of the US. Temperatures into the high 70s in New York today...

I love watching US forecasts. They are so informative and well presented.

Place to be tomorrow evening and early Thursday is Iowa, southern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Some serious convective weather forecast for this broader region. Set up looks not too dissimilar to that which brought that incredible derecho event to parts of eastern Iowa last August.

Hopefully nothing half as severe as that event but still, I wish I was there!

Very interesting stats for Death Valley for July with 4 rain days and one Trace.  It been a wettest July since I been recording while they got the usual over 50C heatwaves.  Most striking is how many days of rain fell in July than in mid winter there so that odd one and exceeded 1 inch easily.  Flash floods warning sent out.  I only now record Nicosia and Death Valley while here stopped in 2012 as it gone very boring and more boring ever now.

I can't imagine that anybody ventures up to the summit this time of year. Next Sunday is forecast to be -40C with a wind of 115 km/h giving a wind chill of -70C !

Not only that but some less prone areas of the Pacific NW USA could (unusually) see a White Christmas.

If you really want snow then parts of the Sierra Nevada in th3 coming days are expected to receive 10 feet of it: https://us.cnn.com/2021/12/22/weather/atmospheric-river-california-snow-travel-forecast/index.html

Calgary Expected a daytime max of -28c tomorrow wow!

Meanwhile my cousins in Seattle, Washington State). - Have received up to 10cms of snow today - this was taken this morning 0800 Seattle time and apparently the snow started as sleet around 13:00 on Xmas Day. Apparently SEATTLE is experiencing the longest coldest/snowiest spell in over a decade. Quite rare given Seattle is coastal and the December average is around +5c. Daytime maxes are not expected to climb above -6c tomorrow (27th). So a white Xmas for Seattle and I anticipate Vancouver as well.

Photos taken this morning from Seattle - My cousins garden I wanted to share.

Also- there is more snow is in the forecast as well.

Thunderstorms just to the SE of Lake Michigan at the moment, heading towards Detroit.

Wonder what producing strong convective activity. I know that these occur when Arctic airmass blows over the Great Lakes in Autumn and early Winter in the same way it does over the North Sea, but this current system seem to be a warm occlusion.

Colder than here and more interesting over there meanwhile Death Valley will see maximums of 11C daytime and -1C forecast this coming weekend while many days are 12-14C which is much colder than UK and very interesting there.

Snow cover USA

Question:

Is that straight snow line, south of The Great Lakes real?

isn't that the actual estimated path of the big storm system along that boundary? so maybe slightly estimates but not unreasonable
