Wasn’t expecting to see frost on the roofs still. Snow cover still present where it hasn’t been disturbed but the rain is on its way. Radar suggests it might start as sleet.

Around the Solent area, probably the coldest moderate/heavy rain I have experienced. Temperature hovering at or just below 1C

Indeed, white frost here at 0800, moderate to heavy rain at 0900. Upper air must be warm or we'd have a snow event (not 'another snow event' - still waiting for a first one)

So far it's the 17th morning of lying snow here in January and 15 days of snow falling. There is still 10cm at 150m and 3cm here at the house. All this thawing and freezing has created treacherous ice all month and this morning is the worst ice of all after rain in the night

We now have compacted snow and ice with surface water that has now frozen. Even snow free surfaces have black ice

It was 1.5 C in the night with the rain and sleet but air temperature at 10:30 is 0.5 C

This means the ground temperature is below freezing. Very few people making it up the hill this morning, only those, like me wearing spikes!

The sky is white as the precipitation approaches. At this level it will be rain or sleet sadly

Sure I saw white splodges in the rain earlier but perhaps down to it's intensity.
6.0c here in Exeter.

Worth a check on precipitation type radar:
