A cold and frosty start to today and to this weekend, with an official air frost at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 6am this morning was exactly -2.0°C at Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Gogarbank, and down to exactly -3.0°C at the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.

The one big surprise here is that it's not colder that what it actually is, given that we still have some lying snow around.

After all, last night has really just been the winter equivalent of a day in high summer when the temperature only reaches the low 20s°C, rather than the upper 20s°C or even the 30s°C.

Dull, grey and damp all making the current 3.2 c feel clammy here at Folkestone. At least it isn't blowing a gale for once. Did scrape a touch of frost with a min of 0.1 c first thing this morning before the high cloud moved in from France.

None of the west coast showers making it into Glasgow. Perhaps wind needs to be more westerly than NWly to penetrate inland. Frost still on ground, temp 3dc.

Here in Edinburgh, the temperatures are dropping away nicely with an official air frost already being recorded at all three of my local stations as early as 5pm this afternoon when the temperature at Edinburgh Airport was already down to -2°C.
