the front looks way more organised and intensive than the patchy affair shown on the BBC graphics... and moving at more pace

Now the main snow band has passed, are the next bands coming in from west likely to be Snow?

Surprised there isn't a snow weather warning out for tonight , not because it will be especially hazardous for most but to be consistent with similar weather warnings issued in winter. Possibly for 2-5cm above 200-250 metres in places I would have thought.

.. and that was the case even here in the north of Edinburgh as well, where we don't usually get as much snow on average as those higher and more inland parts of the south of Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Wintry showers passing through Manchester city centre at the moment. It's mostly hail and wet snow in the heavier ones.

Some wintry showers last night but not as cold as expected. Met Office automated had temps of 0c to 1c with snow here but in reality it was about 2c most of the night.
The text forecast even talked of someaccumulations but doesn't look white even on the hills 350-400m this morning. Strange.
