This year's data runs from 09:00 UTC (9am GMT) on 1 January 2020

LTA = 1981-2010 average for the month, season or year in question at that particular station.

Yesterday was the wettest day of this autumn so far at both of those stations, and will go down in the final statistics as the wettest day of last month at both of those stations.

Indeed, last month got off to a wet start and for a while, it had looked almost certain to go down as our fourth wetter than average month in a row.

However, it then became exceptionally dry with a run of 18 days in a row without a single official rain day at either of those stations. That finally came to an end during the early hours of this morning, but the wet day which followed on the last day of last month wasn't enough to prevent last month from being drier than average in the end, both in terms of the actual rainfall amounts and in terms of the number of official rain days.

This therefore brings to a end, the run of wetter than average months which we had during the summer, although last month was only our first drier than average month since May.

Rainfall for here in September, taking an average of two local PWSs (the third seems to under-read so much that I am discounting it from measurements from now on) was 36.5mm which is 68% of LTA for the month.  The great majority of that fell on just two days (24th and 30th).  This is the sixth consecutive month when we have had less than average rainfall.

Year to end Sept total is 454.5mm (96% of LTA).

My final total for September is 22.5mm  (44%).  Only 5 days with rain, and most of that fell in just the last week.

Driest September here since 2014.

81% at my nearest SEPA station, the most of that before mid month. A welcome spell after the washout summer, August in particular.
16mm already this month with the weekend deluge to come.
Why does it always rain on me?
