Thanks for all the updates GW

I'm surprised to have climbed to 2nd this month - I've become too used to things going awry in recent years . Not feeling very confident about May though - it might not be chilly for as much of next week as I was anticipating.

Regarding the 2020 CET mean-to-date, it was only just shy of 2007 back on 27th April (7.59°C v. 7.67°C) - the cool finish has since widened the gap with the mean to 3rd being 7.67°C for 2020 and 7.90°C for 2007.

Funnily enough, 1990 also has a mean of 7.67°C to 3rd.

There is some discrepancy with GW's figures here, though - to the end of April I have:

2007    7.80°C
2014    7.66°C
2020    7.62°C
1990    7.45°C
2002    7.37°C

This is from using the daily Hadley CET data. I can see how 2020 might differ due to provisional stats, as I always update via the 2020 estimation file, but why are past years also different...?

I was using the monthly data as it was quicker. But you are right the daily data is more accurate.

Okay... well, I think can forgive you for that considering everything you've got going on  - thanks for clarifying .
