After a two day long permacast hell, the Sun has now finally appeared here in Edinburgh.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 5°C here in Edinburgh.

After a totally rank and disgusting week I thought it wouldn't be possible for the weekend to, yet again, be even worse but I've been wildly optimistic with that line of thought

After 3.5 hours sun in the past five days and 1.4 hours sun over the past three Saturdays it is another filthy grey, cold, wet and windy horror show. 3.9C with grey skies and rain despite pressure of 1038mb

The 9th consecutive Saturday now with measurable rainfall. It's just beyond awful. Think I enjoyed March 2013 more than this hideous month.

Don't need any police to enforce restrictions on going out here because the weather has been doing that for the past five months. Unrelentingly vile

Sadly, this morning's lovely sunshine didn't last for all that long before it then clouded over with the rest of the day since then, descending into yet another spring borefest with yet more constant grey skies but with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

A total of just 1.1 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon, but even that is far more than what was recorded during the last three days put together.

With there being too much cloud around though, the temperatures are once again refusing to rise and have actually dropped a bit during the last hour.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was around 7°C here in Edinburgh.

Still good sunny spells despite broken cumulus trying to come in from the NE under a brisk wind.

Although the 11.3 c & 68% h felt quite cold when I popped out to put the rubbish in the bin.
