I still rate the Euro4 better than all the other high-res such as Arome, Arpege, NMM which seem to vastly over exaggerate snowfall.
It did okay for here on Monday, highlighting lying snow but was a bit over the top. Has been decent for the last 48 hours putting us on the edge of any snowfall and we have had slushy coverings. Worked well in December, again picking out the snowfall that affected the Dales and gave us a thin covering.
I know it's a bit amateur but the Met Office app is the most reliable IMO. If it shows precipitation and a temp at your location of 1c or less then you have a good chance of snowfall. It predicts the temperature profile very well , maybe not exactly when precipitation will fall or the type but you can interpret this from the temperature. Worked well on Monday for all the areas I checked. On that basis, tomorrow morning does look interesting in places in the NW. Stockport for example has a temp of 1c with heavy snow for a period. Think it looks borderline though for low lying areas, elevation of 100m might be required.
