Quite sunny now that the high cloud has moved on. Still a chilly feel at 6.8 c (77% h) but not as breezy as yesterday with a light W breeze.

More as a drying up type of day since no rain had fallen overnight.

A rather wet, windy and miserable afternoon here in Edinburgh after a much drier start to the day (albeit after yet another frost-free night and morning in this part of the world).

The wind has picked up as today has gone on, with maximum gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 35.4mph from the SW as at 2pm this afternoon, and it is also raining as I write in addition to that.

That is doing a good job of washing away all of the remaining snow cover from the Pentland Hills with just about all of that having now disappeared as a result.

Although we haven't yet got to the point where it is really mild here, it is a bit milder than what it was yesterday and so, the temperature at 2pm was around 6°C here in Edinburgh with that wind making it feel a bit colder than what it actually is.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

The earlier rain has cleared away for now but at point in time during this evening, we had a really torrential downpour which resulted in a total of 8.6 mm of rain being recorded in just a single hour at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

So far as at 10pm tonight, this particular event has resulted in a total of 14.2 mm of rain being recorded for today since 9am this morning at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 18.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes today, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations by quite a considerable amount, and the wettest day of this winter so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh by quite a considerable amount.

It is still very windy as well with today's maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 39.1mph from the SW.

In addition to that, the temperatures are also continuing to rise as tonight has gone on, so the temperature at 10pm tonight was now up to a mild 9°C here in Edinburgh.
