We appear to have a dose of the winter glooms and it isn't even winter yet.

No frost last night as the presence of too much wind (and at times, too much cloud) resulted in the temperatures refusing to drop.

This means that last night's overnight minimum temperature was 3.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 4.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This also means that it isn't even the least bit cold just now, although we do at least have a fairly sunny start to today.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9am this morning was around 5°C here in Edinburgh.

A chilly 3.9 c under murky overcast skies here at Folkestone, that must be the coldest noontime temperature in a long while. I feel sad about putting my famed summer shorts away.

Indeed. 1.00 pm in mid November and it's 4C here in a strong ESE wind. Wasn't expecting it to be this cold.

My stroll into work, just before lunchtime, was a bit chilly in the easterly breeze & the temp then was 4.5c, not looking forward to the stroll home in just over an hour either, by which time it will probably be getting dark as it's so overcast today.
