Now that we have just entered another new month, I can now confirm that the final total for November comes out as 82.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 74.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this is 111.3% of the 1981-2010 average for that station whilst the botanic gardens in Edinburgh had 119.5% of its 1981-2010 average rainfall during November.

Overall, this shows that November was wetter than average at both of those stations in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

In addition to that though, Edinburgh Gogarbank only had 11 official rain days during November and this shows that it was actually drier than average there overall in terms of the number of official rain days since that amounts to just 84.6% of the 1981-2010 average.

In addition to that though, the botanic gardens in Edinburgh had 12 official rain days during November with that amounting to 107.1% of the 1981-2010 average, thus making November a slightly wetter than average month there overall in terms of the number of official rain days.

Since we have also moved into a new season, I can confirm that the total for this autumn was 257.6 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 259.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, that is 119.1% of the 1981-2010 average whilst the botanic gardens in Edinburgh had 129.0% of its 1981-2010 average rainfall during this autumn.

This means that in terms of the actual rainfall amounts, this autumn was wetter than average at both of those stations.

In addition to that, Edinburgh Gogarbank had 33 official rain days during this autumn which is 91.2% of the 1981-2010 average, thus making this autumn slightly drier than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

However, the botanic gardens in Edinburgh had 34 official rain days during this autumn which is 100.6% of the 1981-2010 average, thus making this autumn slightly wetter than average there in terms of the number of official rain days.

Finally, I can also confirm that during 2019 so far, Edinburgh Gogarbank has had a total of 815.0 mm of rain as at 1am on 1 December 2019 which is 119.1% of the 1981-2010 average, whilst the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has had a total of 796.8 mm of rain during 2019 so far as at 1am on 1 December 2019, which is 113.1% of the 1981-2010 average.

Total rainfall here for November was 81.8mm which is 107% of the LTA.  This gives a total for YTE Nov of 522.9mm, which is 82% of LTA for that period.

We could still do with lots more rain to make up the deficit from the last two years.  Looks as though November is going to make up some of that deficit according to the model output. (q.v.)

November did make up a small amount of that deficit, but we need more than average rainfall to make it up completely.

141.2mm (173%) was the final total for the horror show that was November.

Only four wetter months in my 14 years of records:

Jan 2016 - 161.8mm

Oct 2009 - 153.8mm

Jan 2014 - 152.6mm

Dec 2012 - 145.4mm

However in all four months it was only about half the month that was exceptionally wet and much more rainfall on the wettest days than the pathetic 17.6mm on the wettest day of November 2019.

This was just a thoroughly nasty, persistently wet month with only four dry days and therefore far more unpleasant than any of those listed above.

Totals from nearby stations:

Balmedie - 116.4mm

Dunnottar - 122.6mm

Nigg - 126.6mm

Inverurie - 148.8mm

Westhill - 182.2mm

Mongour - 243mm  but this is in unpopulated forest area between Stonehaven and Banchory

Locations in the far west of the region which would normally see the highest totals were much drier:

Inverey: 89.4mm

Derry Lodge: 92mm

Aberdeen: The only place that misses out on everything

Final total for November here is 143mm (260% of average), making it the wettest November I've recorded since 1982, easily beating the previous wettest (118mm in Nov 2000).

Nov 7th was the 5th wettest day I've ever recorded with 52mm, and is also the wettest day I've ever recorded outside of the Summer months.

Autumn 2019 is, by far, the wettest Autumn I've recorded with 365mm (230% of average), beating the 315mm in Autumn 2000.

Autumn 2019 is also the wettest of any Season I've recorded. The previous wettest were Summer 2004 and 2012 which both had 329mm here.
