Conclusion:

Overall, August was another warmer than average month, but without any of the temperature records which occurred during July.

However, it was a substantially wetter than average month not only in terms of the actual rainfall amounts, but also in terms of the number of official rain days. In terms of the actual rainfall amounts, it was the wettest August since 2008 at that particular station.

It was also a slightly sunnier than average month overall, although that status wasn't actually confirmed until after 5pm on the very last day of the month. In fact, the deviation from the 1981-2010 August average was so small in this case that we can more or less say that August was an average month overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank in terms of the sunshine totals.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
