This would almost merit another thread on its own as I am about to report something which has become very rare in these parts these days, and that is a bright and sunny start to any day, such as what we have just now.

The result of this is that a total of 24 minutes of sunshine has already been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning.

I know that this may well be a very historic day in many parts of the UK which means that there is some strict criteria in place just now as regards to which thread, temperatures should be reported in. However, there is nothing historic about the temperatures in this part of the world just now and so, I shall continue to post my local temperatures in here for now.

In actual fact, last night was cooler than the previous night with a lot of variation in the temperatures across my three local stations and so, last night's overnight temperature was 13.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was 17.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Historic Heat watch - actual reports from anywhere of temps today 25th July

High temp reports  - suspended for now, will re-open tomorrow

Potential record breaker - speculation as to where things will happen next

Current conditions - actual reports from where you are now unless meriting a post in Historic heat Watch

Convection thread  - reports of storms and their development

Model output thread - developments over the next few days

Let's not forget as well that if anyone is either unhappy about what is happening today or wishes to gloat about that, there is also the summer moaning thread which is currently on page 2 of the default list of threads on this forum as I write.

18 C this morning here and cloudy. While most of you have been basking or sweltering in a heat wave, I haven't recorded a temperature above 21 C this week. Monday and Tuesday were dull and gloomy. Yesterday was considerably brighter with some sunshine but rather cloudy overall. Some parts of Ireland have seen warmer conditions but with temperatures generally no higher than 25 C. It's amazing the difference that the Irish Sea can make to our respective climates.

Supposed to be a fine day but the reality is vile, grey overcast tedium. 19.4C.

Overjoyed to be back to this complete and utter ****. This is an utterly awful spell of weather with only one dry day out of the past eight.

July 2019 is yet another garbage cloudy wet summer month.

35*C here in Tonbridge with still cloudless skies.  I see from the rainfall radar that there is a group of showers heading across the Channel in this direction.
