29c looks like it might be our max, pretty spot on for the MetO forecast for today.

high of 28c today here in Exeter with high alto-cumulus clouds and ant flies! - Usually this denoting instability!
But no rain let alone thunder storms!?

So much for those thunderstorms then!?? - Not a crack of thunder to be heard or flash of lightning to be seen!?

A few clouds now but still 29.8c.  We have lightning forecast for tonight, although we’ve missed out on all the others this year by a whisker each time!  Maybe tonight!

Down to 26.9C here. We’re getting a little bit of estuary air incursion in SE London. Several degrees cooler than LHR.

23.1c Max was an impressive 31.4c. Stunner of a day! Worth noting the forecast max here was 28c, so models are tending to under estimate...

At the very time the MetO automatic forecast had chances of rain at <5% until midnight.

Now 30% on there. 100% in real life.

There was some cloud around for a while during this evening, but this has all now melted away for now and a completely sunny evening means that in the end, a total of 11.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

That makes today the sunniest day of this month so far by quite a fair distance and just like in June, this also keeps alive, our outside chance of once again, escaping with yet another sunnier than average month this time as well.

Given this amount of sunshine and the lack of any onshore wind from off the North Sea, I had expected the temperature to get above 80°F at all three of my local stations for the first time this year. That didn't quite happen and today wasn't as hot as what I had expected it to be under these circumstances.

However, it was still fairly hot nevertheless with a maximum temperature of 25.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 26°C at Edinburgh Airport and 26.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which was still enough for today to go down as the hottest day of this year so far at all three of my local stations as a result.

An onshore wind has now started to develop which is helping to cool things down a little bit, but it remains very warm and humid, so the temperature at 10pm tonight was 18.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
