It seems the cloud cover is pretty widespread again this morning, although it has thinned here and I can see the outline of the sun.  So it’s much brighter now.  Hubby’s just finished a night shift and tells me the early dampness was from a bit of mizzle rather than rain.

Yet another bright and sunny start to a day which I was expecting to see has failed to materialise in this part of the world and once again, yet another day has instead started off on a dull and overcast note although a few breaks have now appeared in that cloud with the odd brighter interval.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 13.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 14.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Another fantastic weekend forecast 'any early cloud soon clearing to give a warm sunny day'

Actual - thick cloud now producing light rain.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.

This was expected though. The Met Office automated forecasts and text forecasts show the cloud only breaking up into the afternoon .

Cloudy but fairly bright, light NE breeze, short recent very light shower - not even enough to wet the paths.

As Gusty has reported, this morning it's quite a bit cooler than recently.

The cloud is thickening and moving SW, so I don't think we will even see the 5pm break up that we saw yesterday.

It had looked for a while during this morning as though the Sun was going to break through but although there are still some bits of blue sky around, the clouds have generally filled in yet again and so, our summer borefest goes on with the result that a total of just 54 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

In addition to that, the temperatures are also refusing to rise and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 17.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and just a rather disappointing 16.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

So far, I have to say that this has been one massive disappointment up until now, especially as today was forecast to be so much better than this.
