Heavy and torrential rain during the early hours of this morning has cleared away for now, but it remains very dull and overcast with a wind coming in from off the North Sea.

The result of this is that a total of 9.4 mm of rain has fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning along with 10.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations and in addition to that, that also already makes today the second wettest day of this summer so far at both of those stations.

Last night's overnight temperature was 12.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There has been very little change in the temperature since around 1am this morning and the temperature at 7am this morning was still at around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Good deal of fog in south edinburgh too. So much for this heatwave (This is the summer equivalent of the south coast crew moaning about their area not getting 3 foot of snow like everyone else)
