Here in Edinburgh, it is now raining after the weather had continued to deteriorate throughout yesterday evening, although the wind appears to have died down a bit.

In the end, a total of 7.5 hours of sunshine was recorded during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

In addition to that, a total of 0.4 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, a total of 1.2 mm of rain has already been recorded for the first two hours of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 2am this morning along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 2am this morning was 9.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Still raining here in Edinburgh as I write and so, today's rainfall totals so far as at 7am this morning have now increased as a result of that to 4.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 3.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Last night's minimum overnight temperature was 9.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Despite all of the high temperatures which we have seen during the day on various occasions during this year up until now, we still haven't had any double figures minimum temperatures during this year so far which is quite remarkable given that we are now just under two weeks away from the start of the meteorological summer, and given there has even been the odd occasion during many recent winters when the overnight temperatures have remained in double figures. In fact, last night was actually the mildest night of this month so far at all three of my local stations and the mildest night of this year so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was 9.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Sunny most of the week and now it's Saturday it's utterly vile yet again.

Windy, cold wet and bleak. 12 hours continuous rain has produced only 7mm and it's been stuck on 9C the entire time.

Apart from Easter Saturday it hasn't reached even 13C on a Saturday this year and now we have this sunless abomination that will struggle to hit double figures. Beyond awful.

Bright & fair with hazy sun and partial cloud. The current 16.4 c & 78% h are feeling pleasantly balmy-like mild in a very gentle onshore southerly breeze.

It is an improvement on yesterday.

So far, we have had a fairly wet and thoroughly miserable morning which adds up to a depressingly miserable start to this weekend.

It is very dull and misty which means that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1pm this afternoon.

In addition to that, we have also had continuous mostly light by very persistent rain since the overnight period which still shows no signs of abating. This means that as at 1pm this afternoon, a total of 6.6 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with at least 6.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, the temperatures have been refusing to rise during today and are rather abysmal for this time of the year just now which is a far cry from the 21.5°C which was recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank just a few days ago.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was 10.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

20.4C max today currently 19.9C

A lot of white cloud but not quite cloudy enough to call it overcast and not thin enough to say it was hazy. However this afternoon it has begun to break with hot humid (compared to late) sunshine breaking through. Winds are fairly light.

Despite the more humid feel it really isn't that humid as Dp's are only around 10C

More sunshine now with distant shower clouds visible along northern horizon.

A surprisingly decent day, after forecasts just yesterday were sure it'd be showery. As it happens, it's been pretty much dry (about 10 mins of threatening to rain with the odd spot, but then died away).

After laying the artificial grass (80m2, with all the donkey work done in preceding weekends), I've spent the last hour or so sat admiring my handiwork and supping a couple of lagers, as the sun has broken through.

I'm feeling very chilled.

It’s been a day of light cloud alternating between bright spells and very light drizzly showers, but fairly mild.

Here in Edinburgh, the rain eventually stopped for a while during this afternoon and it even dried up a bit for a while. However, it has continued to remain dull and overcast throughout today and just to cap what has ended up being a rather miserable write-off of a day, the rain then returned during this evening and it is still raining just now as I write.

The end result of this is that nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today the second completely sunless day of this month, the 9th sunless day of this spring and the 19th sunless day of this year.

At the same time, a total of 7.8 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 9pm this evening along with 7.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which has now also confirmed this spring's status as our first wetter than average season at both of those stations since the summer of 2017 in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

Today's maximum temperature was 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm this evening was 10.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.10.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
