There has been some clear spells during tonight, but there is also some cloud around.

In addition to that, it is also very mild (it could possibly even be classed as quite warm here just now) with the temperatures refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud and too much wind around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 12.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yet another rank cloudy mild morning following the ultimate mind-numbing horror: a double digit min of 10.2C.

Used to be perfectly normal to not see these until June. Alas that was when the climate was still vaguely interesting, varied and changeable as opposed to the year round autumn hell it currently is.

Here in Edinburgh, the spring borefest goes on.

There was a little bit of brightness to begin with, but this morning has already descended into yet another dull and overcast nothingness with constant grey skies and with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 10.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. These were only the first double figures minimum temperatures of the year at all three of my local station, which therefore also makes last night the warmest night of this year so far at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 11.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Rather overcast but dry & the current 10.4 c & 88% h are feeling "mild" in calm air.

You know things has gone dead quiet on the weather front when most of TWO's activities are occurring in the Up In Arms section, a part I have very little interest in but can see why Brian has kept it going.

The borefest goes on here.

It is a tad brighter than what it was earlier on. There has been the odd bit of blue sky around and even the odd glimpse of the Sun. However, it remains mostly overcast which means that the rather miserly total of just 6 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

It's still mild, but not quite as warm as yesterday and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 13.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This afternoon was much brighter with a bit more in the way of sunshine coming through, but cloud is gradually thickening from the west once again and the really dire total of just 36 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 13.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Once again, this evening has descended into yet another dull and overcast nothingness as our spring borefest goes on.

The result of this is that in the end, yet another really abysmal total of just 36 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

There are now only another 10 days left of this month and now, we need to be getting an average of at least 4.61 hours of sunshine per day between now and the end of this month if this month is to somehow, end up being sunnier than average overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank and yet, we have only had an average of 2.9 hours of sunshine per day during this month so far at that particular station.

As things stand, this month is looking on course to end up being substantially duller than average overall as a result. There are two factors which are acting in favour of us still getting a sunnier than average month nevertheless.

First of all, the days are lengthening very quickly just now which will increase the maximum possible amount of sunshine on each day from now on. Secondly and after a briefly more unsettled period at the end of this week and into the weekend, next week is forecast to be more high pressure dominated which on average, should increase of chances of seeing more in the way of sunshine.

The major caveat to that though comes from the fact that we have had a relatively settled spell of weather during this week only for there have been virtually nothing to show for that in the way of any decent sunshine totals, so next week's predicted spell of more settled weather is going to have to bring a lot more in the way of sunshine with it than what we are seeing this week if we are stand any chance of this month being sunnier than average overall in the end.

Anyway, today's maximum temperature was 13.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 11.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
