Today is now the day of the Vernal Equinox and the good news is that after today, there will be more daylight than darkness in any given day.

However, our spring borefest goes on as it remains overcast with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 9.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as the temperatures refuse to drop once again at this time of night.

There is still a lot of cloud around but the Sun has come through a lot more during the course of this morning and a total of 1.5 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which already makes today the warmest day of this spring so far at all three of my local stations.

I think that it's because the Americans have already put their clocks forward for this spring (here in the UK, that doesn't happen until the last weekend of this month) and because that is what is the TWO servers go by (the person to ask about that would be Brian of course).

There was a cloudy spell during the latter part of the afternoon which means that in the end, a total of just 3.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, the skies are generally clear just now although there is still too much wind around for the temperature to be able to drop by very much during tonight.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 12.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
