There was some rain during the early hours of this morning (and it's not very often that I get to say that these days), but this has now cleared away to leave us in yet another borefest with quite a lot of cloud around, and nothing else which is even remotely interesting, actually happening although there is some clear sky around as well.
Nevertheless, this has resulted in a total of 1.4 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 2.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that for only the first time this year, today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.
For Edinburgh Gogarbank, today is only the first official rain day of this year there and although the actual totals are still quite small, they are enough to make today the wettest day of this year there so far at both of those stations and double this month's rainfall total for Edinburgh Gogarbank so far. Since we are now about halfway through this month as well, this just shows how dry it has been so far not only during this month, but over this winter as a whole.
The temperatures showed a fairly rapid drop as that band of rain moved through, but it's still not the least bit cold and so, our frost-free hell goes on.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 6.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
