The weather in this part of the world, remains just as boring as what it has been for several months now with nothing which is even remotely interesting actually happening.

There is a lot of cloud around once again, and it is very windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank gusting up to 31.1mph from the SW as at midnight. This means that once again, the temperatures are refusing to drop due to there being too much cloud and far too much wind around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 8.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There was some rain during the early hours of this morning (and it's not very often that I get to say that these days), but this has now cleared away to leave us in yet another borefest with quite a lot of cloud around, and nothing else which is even remotely interesting, actually happening although there is some clear sky around as well.

Nevertheless, this has resulted in a total of 1.4 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 2.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that for only the first time this year, today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, today is only the first official rain day of this year there and although the actual totals are still quite small, they are enough to make today the wettest day of this year there so far at both of those stations and double this month's rainfall total for Edinburgh Gogarbank so far. Since we are now about halfway through this month as well, this just shows how dry it has been so far not only during this month, but over this winter as a whole.

The temperatures showed a fairly rapid drop as that band of rain moved through, but it's still not the least bit cold and so, our frost-free hell goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 6.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The Groundhog Day hell continues with a damp, dull and mild morning. 4.7C.

Just the same every morning for what seems like an eternity. I'd expect more variety living right on the equator. This is the most boring climate on earth.

Dull, damp and the brisk W wind is making the current 8.3 c & 89% h feel quite cold. However, the spitty rain we have had so far today isn't enough to tip the rain gauge yet.

Mid morning brought rain and a fall in temp, by mid afternoon the sky had cleared, the sun came out and it was only 4c.  It’s now down to 0.5c, although the BBC and MetO apps say it’s 4c.  We also have yellow ice warnings for overnight.

On the very night when it is supposed to get a lot colder, it has now become a lot cloudier once again with the temperature once again, refusing to drop in this part of the world due to there being too much cloud around. That is just typical of this borefest and complete non-event which is known as this "winter".

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 2.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 3.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. For all three of my local stations, these temperatures aren't even all that much lower than what they were at the time of my last report on this thread at just after 5pm this afternoon.
