Clear intervals with the odd shower of rain still around (the streets are fairly damp just now from a shower of rain which has just passed over here).

During yesterday, a total of 0.2 mm of rain was recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh due to a passing shower during the evening whilst Edinburgh Gogarbank was completely dry.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 7.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Bright with a nice drop of sunshine overhead while bubbly cumulus are passing by to my west and north. 13.3 C but a fresh west wind is making it feel fresh and airy.

I could live with that.

Some cloudier periods alternating with some sunny periods with 3.4 hours of sunshine having now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Apart from that though, there just isn't really really anything happening here as usual.

The temperature at 12 noon was 11.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

EDIT

I perhaps spoke too soon as a shower of rain came over the area once I posted this, but that is still nothing more than what we have been getting over the last few days and so, doesn't change in any way, what I have written above for now.

Today has been quite a remarkable day and the first day for a while, that I haven't been able to refer to our weather as being boring.

If you were to go just by the sunshine totals, this actually wouldn't go down as being all that bad as a total of 6.2 hours of sunshine have been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon.

However, there has also been a number of much heavier showers during this afternoon. This in turn, has boosted today's rainfall totals to 1.2 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 2.2 mm at the botanic gardens and this means that for the first time since Friday 13 April 2018, today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

This makes today very unusual in many ways as it is both the sunniest day of this week so far and the wettest day of this week so far, and that is not exactly what you would typically refer to as being a very likely combination.

Today's maximum temperature was 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 10.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There hasn't been any any further showers since my last report and so, there hasn't been any further additions to today's rainfall totals in this part of the world since then. However, there has been some sunshine at times during this evening and in the end, a total of 7.5 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

With the Sun having now set as well, the temperatures are now dropping away and so, the temperature at 9pm tonight was 7.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
