Beautiful part of the world, the Finger Lakes must be frozen solid! We passed through Geneva in August 2014 and ate in a Chinese Buffet restaurant. It was somewhat warmer then!

At least we are not the only snow starved place! Crazy to think NYC has not seen any proper measurable fall of snow yet this winter!?

My heart bleeds...In the last few years they have had some outstanding snowfalls (the sort of snowfall we can only dream off)

Jammy sods!

Looking at some of those forecast totals, I just hope I get to experience such a snowfall in the UK. It'd be brilliant. Absolute chaos. People having meltdowns all over. Government in an utter flap.

Stating the obvious but the UK needs 0cm of snow for that.

It is somewhat inclement at Mt Washington too. Current conditions are temperature -29°C with a mean wind speed of 109mph (gusts to 117mph). That would be quite a windchill!

Could be worse for our weather - Look at NYC now:

https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/new-york-ny/10007/weather-forecast/349727

I still think that the substantial amount of wetter than average weather/beit rain or snow in the N. eastern parts of the USA and Canada is not helping us as it's blasting up the jet as it heads off eastern seaboard of the USA and into the Atlantic. - thus giving us ongoing depressions as it's system after system now!

Looks like some real brutal cold next week for that part of the world. My mate from Chicago mentioned just how cold it was going to get. The Iphone app is predicting a high of -20 and a low of -26 next Wednesday!

And wind chill was quoted on BBC News Channel from -33 for Chicago down to -39 for Fargo, and colder to come.

On the subject of cold and windchill, in parts of Nunavut in Canada it is -48°C as I write this with a windchill temperature of -69°C. Cold, even by their standards.

Crazy - i remember wild swings when living in Canada esp Calgary but this one tops it!

I would really love to live in a climate like that

high of -25c and a few days later up to +5c! I mean that's rise of 30 degrees over a few days? CRAZY!

Anyway this is a hypothetical scenario as the UK will never see such extreme cold, but JUST - Imagine the UK experiencing daytime maxes of +2c and then it shoots up to +32c a few days later?

But so exciting and eventful unlike the relentless borefest of overcast, mild, dank, gloomy, miserable, drizzly depressive, gunk we get in the UK!

I'd love those conditions over the UK. It'd be brilliant. A lot of people could keep warm by wetting their pants.
