Looking toasty this morning again, though I doubt Lytton will break the record a fourth time. 38C in inland Washington state at 10am.

I wondered how much the indoor temperatures in Lytton houses reached? over 40C easily.  Highest house temps here was 35C when outside 38C so at 49.6C perhaps 43-45 if no air con and houses was designed for cold winters.

I have to say I find these events quite scary, as they’re a harbinger of what’s coming our way. This is happening with global temperatures just over 1c up on pre-industrial levels. What will it look like when we’re up at +2c and more?

Even on the eastern side it’s hot - 30c in the GTA (Toronto) yesterday.

I'm just off for a read of WUW you know what. When there I will find out the truth that none of it is actually happening

43.0c in Kelowna BC today:

A dip in Okanagan wouldn't be unreasonable!? I did this is 2005 summer was 32c but freezing in the lake of course ha! But gosh 43.0c in Kelowna must be an all time record, surely now?

Hard on the heels of the heatwave in the Pacific Northwest of a few days ago, the South Western USA is now the subject of a new advisory

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/heat-wave-western-states-all-time-highs/

The temperture in Death Valley. Nevada reached 130F yesterday (54.4C) and is expected to match this or possibly just beat this both today and tomorrow

Last year Death Valley also reached 130F

The "official" world record is 134F (56.7C) recorded in Death valley in 1913 but this is contested in many quarters as is the Tunisian reading of 131F recorded in 1931.

Things heating up in the American Mid West. Looks like Las Vegas might get a new record and it's possible the all time world record in Death Valley may fall.
