Just been looking back on Met Office CET figures. Looks like late 1800's - Early 1900's for similar....For December...

Some interesting guesses there. At the moment, you'd put money December being above average - perhaps even to Martyn levels!!!

This month is going fast, on 5.6C (+2.8C ) here - which is above November too so far.
There'd have to be a big change now to get down to my average (which is skewed by recent unusually cold Decembers).

Today may have an unexpectadely low CET. Temps are still below freezing in parts of the london area.

Good to see the chart and all the numbers, think I have gone way too low! Oh well it's fun to guess........

Me too; I was thinking the freezing weather we are having on the continent would extend over a major part of the CET area and that was sort of what the models indicated at deadline. Next month is a new year to get it wrong, all over again.

Hadley is running a bit high, yesterday had a well below avg CET despite everything. Today will also have a suprisingly low CET.

CET wise today is probably going to be the 3rd or even 2nd coldest day so far this autumn/winter which is somewhat suprising given the 850s are in double figures! But thats what you get with inversions and a light cold feed of the continent (and the fog definately helps).
