All out 215 shocking! Our batting is poor with quite a few bottlers in the line up we could be in trouble to retain the Ashes.

As I keep saying, it's one innings. No need to press panic buttons. Was a pathetic performance though

One argument for batting first would be that Swann is bowling against the Aussies during the 4th innings of the Test. Maximise his chances of getting spin. Mark Taylor took that train of thought in 1997 against England at Old Trafford. I think the pitch was green to start with so was tempting to bowl first but Taylor backed Warne to deliver the goods against England in the 4th innings.

I think our bowlers will get us out of jail during the series but we need our batsmen to turn up and im not convinced they will enough for us to retain the Ashes.

Even day. Still wonder where we'd be had we made them bat.

An even day characterised by an even display of poor batting by both sides.

One can't help but speculate on the detrimental effect that the ever multiplying short formats of the game are having on the ability of Test batsman to bat out a session keeping the scoreboard ticking over rather than going for the big shots. I think it's sad that when the weather does not interfere that Tests these days rarely run to a 5th day.

I was talking about this to a TNT driver today , we mentioned that all the short formsof the game have messed with players heads/ability to perform in a test.

How many hours did we bat for????..................not good
