Provisional figures show.

8.9 on friday to 1.4 on saturday  so 7.5 change which I make the biggest fall on a march day since 1821 and only bettered by the two above examples.

It's not like Arty to post these things onto the wrong thread but then, I suppose that this happens to the best of us at times.

I think that you had put it into February's thread by mistake, so you can always check there.

No, sadly the Warsop station hasn’t been any help by being down. I’ll keep looking at it just in case it’s just teething problems!  But the one at Marples Hill is less than four miles away and is fairly representative of the weather IMBY.

1. Is there a typo in the Metcheck figures? Yesterday they were:

Metcheck                           4.05c        Anomaly      -1.11c

So today's values seem inconsistent with those.

2. Presumably the stations reporting anomalies of 4 degrees or more have only been going for a few years, so that their mean values haven't had a chance to "settle down" yet.

Were it not for March 2013 then we would surely be looking down the barrel of our coldest March for several decades??

And once again I am going to get destroyed in the table because I hoped it would get milder and by and large it's failed. Just hoping now that we will follow the pattern of 2006 and 2013 which also had miserable cold starts to "spring", and get a decent summer...

As the CET is now running at 4.4C, I imagine that it will probably edge up a bit before the end of the month but probably won't reach 5. Excluding 2013, the most recent Marches to come in at under 5 were 2006 with 4.9 and 1996 with 4.5.
