Quiet, cloudy, 3.4 C .. down from 6.4 C earlier. Must be a cold blip - both electronic sensors agree - we are next to a mere and countryside here.

Pressure @ 1004mb.

Quite a sudden warm up at about 11pm and it has stayed around 4C all night.
Some bright spells too this morning.
Snow will soon be gone as there was never more than about 6 inches.

Hi John! From a dull and damp Folkestone as this shallow low pressure move away, however both my rain gauges are reading zero.

Milder than of late with the snow disappearing even from the Pentland Hills, so no frost this time. A few clear spells, but also a good deal of cloud and windy with that as well. There are also a few light showers around as well.

Overnight minimum temperatures were 0.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 0°C at Edinburgh Airport and 0.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh with those minimum temperatures all occurring during yesterday afternoon.

With that said, the latest official data which I have just now is as follows:

THE BOTANIC GARDENS, EDINBURGH (AS AT 8am)

Temperature: 5.6°C
Dew Point: 3.2°C
Relative Humidity: 88.0%

Average Temperature For January 2018: 3.0°C
Anomaly: -1.2 (set against 1981-2010 average)

EDINBURGH GOGARBANK (AS AT 8am)

Temperature: 5.2°C
Dew Point: 3.0°C
Relative Humidity: 89.0%
Wind: SW at 13.0mph
Pressure: 1,001.6mb, rising
Visibility: 13.7 miles

Average Temperature For January 2018: 2.7°C
Anomaly: -1.2 (set against 1981-2010 average)

EDINBURGH AIRPORT (AS AT 8:30am)

Temperature: 5°C
Dew Point: 2°C
Relative Humidity: 85.0%
Wind: SW at 22mph
Pressure: 1,002mb, rising
Visibility: At least 6.2 miles

Average Temperature For January 2018: 2.5°C
Anomaly: -1.4 (set against 1981-2010 average for Edinburgh Gogarbank)

Temperatures and dew points at Edinburgh Airport are measured only to the nearest 1°C instead of the nearest 0.1°C.

Pressure at Edinburgh Airport is measured to the nearest 1mb instead of the nearest 0.1mb.

All Data for Edinburgh Airport is taken from weatheronline.co.uk whereas all other data is taken from weathercast.co.uk.

Since the Met Office doesn't hold any climatological data for Edinburgh Airport, the 1981-2010 averages for Edinburgh Gogarbank are used for that station due to its very close proximity.

Mostly cloudy and windy with the odd very light shower at times. There are a few bright intervals as well with the Sun making the odd brief appearance but so far, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 6.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

It's actually turning out alright with sunny breaks and partial cloud. The late morning sunshine felt positively spring-like on the face when I did the chemist errand.

A comfortably mild 10 C under a light west breeze. A vast improvement on the past weekend's crud.

Hi, Ian! Sunny intervals and slight showers here, fairly mild @ 7.6 C, a light to moderate westerly breeze and pressure has risen to 1014mb.

There was a little bit more sunshine for a while this afternoon, but that has only resulted in 24 minutes of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which is now, likely to be today's final total since it has gone more overcast again as we have got towards the end of the day.

In addition to that, some light showers during this afternoon have resulted in a further 0.2 mm of rain being added to today's total at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, it has been a fairly mild but windy day with maximum temperatures of 7.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile at 4pm this afternoon, the temperature was 6.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
