Alpine glacier collapses in Italy, killing five people

It was not immediately clear what caused the section of ice to break away and rush down the peak’s slope. But the intense heat wave gripping Italy since late June could be a factor, Walter Milan, an Alpine rescue service spokesperson, told RAI state TV.

“The heat is unusual,” Milan said, noting that temperatures in recent days on the peak had topped 10 C (50 F). ”That’s extreme heat” for the peak, Milan said. “Clearly it’s something abnormal.”

I also read and watched YouTube about Lake Mead also in record low and shown a sunken boat sticking up in the air.  

Does Lake district ever get that low? I remember flying back to Leeds Bradford after 1989 summer In Cyprus  I saw lot of lakes from air was low as you can see golden shore lines extended.

I have friends just returned from a jeep safari holiday there and they confirm lovely warm days like May here and and cold nights like December. ....and thats winter in Namibia.  The scenery on some of the photos they sent is beyond breathtaking. Well worth consideration for a holiday by the looks of it.... 

Flash floods over Death Valley area and yesterday recorded whopping 1.46 inches of rain that 37.1mm the highest I ever seen on my records.  most storms always by passing it and give only little rain but this time got hit very hard.

Temperatures was very cool 24C at night to only 34C day time, that 13C below average.  This give Death Valley a heat break.  Will go back to mid 40's again in the coming days.

Rainfall amount of 37.1 go higher than what we got in the drought effected areas of UK during the summer season so far 1st June to 6th August.

Perth had one of its coldest days for many years with a high of 12c yesterday. Temperatures for the majority of the day were in single figures and some suburbs only recorded a high of 9c. 850mb temperatures of -1c resulted in some lively hail showers coming in off the Indian Ocean.

Exactly the same as Nicosia when they get very cold few days ar a time.  Also in Namibia got hit with very cold air last couple of weeks ago with max of 7C when normally at low to high 20s over the waterhole area on desert lodge live webcam.  Was one day wonder and snow reported in parts of higher areas there. Waterhole sit at over 1000m got cold rain then overcast all day.
