In complete contrast to the situation in Aberdeen (at least, according to RichardAbdn anyway) it has actually got even sunnier over time here in Edinburgh as this afternoon and evening has gone on with all of that earlier cloud cover having now completely disappeared some time ago.
That has happened too late for today to have any chance of being our sunniest day of the year, but today's total is still turning out to be quite decent anyway with a total of 9.2 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7pm BST (18:00 UTC) this evening.
There was also another increase in the temperature after my last report on here and today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 23.2°C.
Once again though, that falls just short of our highest temperature of this year so far which was achieved on 23 June 2022, although today was still our warmest day of this month so far.
However, this is now the second time this month that we have come very close to getting our warmest day of the year so far, without actually managing to do so which is now getting a bit frustrating.
If the forecasts are right, we might have a better chance of achieving that tomorrow but then, it is forecast to cool down for a few days at least.
This means that tomorrow might be our only chance for that to happen if those predictions within the latest model output for more hot weather later on next week don't come off.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 7pm BST (18:00 UTC) this evening was around 21°C here in Edinburgh.
