What is the TV forecast for tha?. I can see it moving up steadily on the radar in real time but no rain showing for today for London on, for example, GFS ensembles?

The wind as well as desiccating the plants did a good job at stripping the leaves off trees too.

It seems todays rain is losing its mojo in its approach from the south. Again.

The garden needs a decent soak.

Met Office have a thunderstorm warning out. I think we could see some very potent cells breaking out in the warmth this afternoon - maybe more than the forecasts suggest?

I live in hope as long as they're not as potent as the leaf stripping hail the French experienced recently.

The many has been downgraded to a few for me.

Today will be mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers, which may bring the odd rumble of thunder. It will turn drier in the afternoon with sunny spells developing. Another warm day.

The forecast location and intensity of today's storms has been varying wildly. For instance MetO was giving Chichester a miss yesterday; today it's showing 70% chance of heavy rain 1200-1400.

Yes, indeed. The orographic effects of the Pennines and Welsh mountains will certainly help, together with the heat. I expect the most potent storms will occur in these areas (Wales, NW England), and may will last well into the night.

Ditto, but with added hail (2-3mm size, like polystyrene balls). Made a racket!

And the BBC reporting that across the N Sea, one person killed by tornado in Holland, presumably originating from the same front.

Had one of those Hitchcock-style-movie thundercracks at around 4.30 or later.

Didn't register as a lightning strike on lightningmaps.org which is a very accurate predict for thunder being heard so cloud to cloud?

We had a very nearby thundercrack just after 1pm, and a torrential downpour, but I forgot to check the lightning map.

Just a distant rumble late afternoon to the south from what seems to have been a busy area from Southampton to Portsmouth and Petersfield

Didn't hear anything here so presume this must have been to the south or west of you!
