Fair with good sunny spells and some bubbly cumulus. 19.3 C & 72% with a mod SW breeze making it feel fresh and airy. Ideal for airing house out with nearly all windows open.

Here in Edinburgh, last night was rather chilly for the time of year with an overnight minimum temperature of 7.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today has been mostly cloudy with bits and pieces of rain blowing around in the wind at times, and just the odd brighter interval, especially during this morning.

The result of this is that a total of just 1.8 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 2pm BST (13:00 UTC) this afternoon.

It is also very windy with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 31.1 mph from the SSE as at 2pm BST (13:00 UTC) this afternoon (I don't think that RichardAbdn will be enjoying those SE's somehow, as that isn't exactly his favourite wind direction).

In addition to that, the temperatures have generally been refusing to rise by much today and so, the temperature at 2pm BST (13:00 UTC) this afternoon was a rather dismal 14°C which is a lot cooler than of late, and not even the least bit warm for this time of the year.

Just occasional light showers during today here in Edinburgh with nothing actually registering and given that today was supposed to be the most "unsettled" day of this current spell of weather, that is now very concerning indeed in terms of our chances of avoiding any water restrictions during this summer.

This almost constant dry weather caused a large grass fire to break out at Calton Hill during this afternoon and if we don't start to get some serious rainfall soon, the risk of those types of events happening is just going to get even greater during the coming months.

This afternoon and evening were much brighter with a bit more sunshine although a total of only 3.1 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank which leaves us still needing a total of at least 12.3 hours of sunshine during the last 4 days of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average here.

The wind has also died down a bit, and the temperature eventually recovered during this afternoon to reach a maximum of 18.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm (21:00 UTC) tonight was around 14°C here in Edinburgh.
