Here in Edinburgh, there is a lot of cloud around, but with occasional sunny intervals as well.

Once again though, today has started off on a very windy note here with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 35.7 mph from the SW as at 8am BST (07:00 UTC) this morning.

For the third night in a row, last night was our warmest night of this summer so far and on this occasion, last night was also our warmest night of this year so far with a minimum temperature of 12.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am BST (07:00 UTC) this morning was around 14°C here in Edinburgh.

A charming start to the weekend.

It's now mostly overcast here in Edinburgh and as at 11am BST (10:00 UTC) this morning, a total of just half an hour of sunshine had been recorded for the whole of today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank with even the odd light shower starting to appear in various locations in the distance.

The wind has also picked up further with maximum gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank now reaching 43.7 mph from the SW as at 11am BST (10:00 UTC) this morning.

In addition to that, the temperatures are now refusing to rise, and remain stuck at around 15°C as at 11am BST (10:00 UTC) this morning.

The wind appears to have died down a bit here in Edinburgh, but it still remains mostly overcast with a number of showers at times which as per usual these days, have failed once again to produce any appreciable amounts of actual recorded rainfall here up until now.

Today was cooler than yesterday and today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 16.8°C which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of the year.
