Kev, what was the year in the (I think) 1950's that saw NW England (at least) get an amazingly heavy snowfall? I'm sure it was you who reported it - something like 12" of level snow in Southport, drifts of 8' in Bolton, etc

December 1950 was very snowy for NW England 


Manchester: 15cm of snow fell on the 4th December, another 18cm on the 14th and a further 15cm on the 30th. There were thaws between the falls.
