Just been watching this short clip - it is frighteningly impressive, DEW.

Yes, there have been a few sizeable lava “breakouts” today and the seismic activity is also continuing at depth indicating (I believe) that the eruption is unlikely to finish in the very near future.

An interesting update:

https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/la-palma/news/144005/La-Palma-volcano-eruption-update-high-lava-effusion-rates-new-lava-arm-at-the-sea-speculation-about-.html

Seismic activity shows worrying signs
According to a post of a geoscience page VolcanesyScienciaHoy on facebook based in Tenerife, the current seismic activity points towards that more magma is moving upwards, as indicated by 3 factors:
- several earthquakes appeared at depths less than 7-8-9 km;
- after the 4.2 quake two days ago, there have been episodes of spasmodic tremor with many earthquakes in a row that indicate movement of magma in depth;
- since yesterday, the appearance of strong volcanic tremor at around 18 Hz frequency thought to be caused by depressurization of fluids at great depth around 10 km;
If these interpretations hold, there should soon be noticeable ground uplift visible in the GPS stations (which, so far, is not the case). What will next happen, when this new magma pulse reaches the surface, is unknown.

Some good footage here of the damage being done. The lava flows continue unabated and it’s sad to see people having to leave their homes. There’s also a clip of lava flowing onto a main road.

Article says eruption not expected because the quake was generated by lateral slip i.e. not movement of magma

An interesting volcano near Sicily that hasn't erupted for many years.

The last eruption on Vulcano was more than 130 years ago and lasted from 2 August 1888 to 22 March 1890.

Last month, referring to “increased degassing, temperatures and seismicity” on the island, Marco Pistolesi, a volcanology professor at the University of Pisa, said, “for those who know the island, this has never been observed before”.

Our daughter and husband's proposed holiday on La Palma in 2nd week of December has now been cancelled by TUI , so TUI is expecting the eruption to continue. They're allowing a later free re-book to another Canary Island of choice.

We went on our recent cruise with TUI and on our way from the Canaries to the Caribbean, we did a detour to see the La Palma volcano. It was a most amazing experience!  The lava flow is alarmingly close to towns and there’s a large cloud of ash and smoke over the whole island. Would love to post pictures but don’t have the means.

The La Palma eruption is still going strong with a new vent, and lava flows, opening up yesterday. The current view is impressive: https://youtu.be/ndy422chyW8
