What was the highest max temperature recorded during the heat wave we have had over the past 7-10 days? Did anywhere reach a 35c? If not then this could be the first July where it's failed to reach the mid 30's somewhere in the UK.

To be honest I am pleased with a slight cool down my bedroom has been very stifling esp at night. My hay fever has been bad again and plus the nights are still uncomfortably humid and warm. It's 01:20am and temperature in Exeter is still +18c

Nowhere near 35. 32.2C was the hottest I believe.

Back in July 1988 nowhere reached 24c the whole month as far as I am aware. A cyclonic month with relentless strong westerlies.

What a totally lazy and ridiculous statement. First July since when? Do you really think we've reached the mid 30's in every July since records began!?

He actually breaks down the maxima by degree:

An annual maximum of less than 90F has happened just under 50% of the time since 1900 (90F is 32.2C). Since 1900,

34C or more seen 25 years, in (10 times 34-35: 1921, 1930, 1933, 1941, 1947, 1959, 1975, 1989, 2013, 2017, plus the 15 years below.

35C or more has been seen in 15 years from 1900 on (1906, 1911, 1923, 1932, 1948, 1957, 1976, 1990, 1995, 2003, 2006, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020),

36C or more has been seen in 7 years (1911, 1932, 1990, 2003, 2006, 2015, 2019) [actually 8 years, inc 2020]

37C or more three times (1990, 2003, and 2020), [actually four times, inc 2019]

38C or more twice (2003 and 2019).

I forgot to add for a while - previous July's over past decade somewhere in the UK has reached and or exceeded the 35c mark, except 2012?

Another stunner of a day here, after a cracking weekend. Nice extended summery spell in this part of the country. 👍👍👍

Sadly all good things must come to an end, and that change is coming abruptly, tomorrow.

I forgot about 2017 - you're right max then was 32.2 at Heathrow on 6th July looking at the archives on Met Office:

So yes you're right - first time we (somewhere in the UK) hasn't reached the mid to upper 30's in July in 4 years (since July 2017).

I was trying to find where and what the max/hottest temp was recorded in the UK?

Indeed great spell of weather,  Saturday was the only disappointingly cool day here, otherwise above average temperatures and no rain since 12th July.
