Today started off on a rather dull note here in Edinburgh with a lot of easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea.

That mist and low cloud has now cleared away, but there is still a lot more cloud around than of late with only occasional periods of very hazy sunshine at times.

Last night was milder than the previous night with a minimum temperature of 12.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9am this morning was around 18°C with a very muggy feel to things.

cloudiest start for a while. Now 23dc and sunny with light cloud. Bit more of a breeze and less humid/muggy feel as a result. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I see that Edinburgh Airport is listed as one of the hottest places in the whole of the UK at xcweather.co.uk with a temperature of 26°C as at 5pm this afternoon.

That makes today the hottest day of this year so far across all three of my local stations here in Edinburgh.

Apart of that, it is just boring as usual with some cloud around, and some hazy sunshine.

There is a cluster of showers/thunderstorms passing by to my east but here in Edinburgh, absolutely nothing is changing in terms of our weather from how it has been for several weeks now.

Despite all of the hazy sunshine which has been around during today though, a total of just 5.1 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7pm this evening, but this means that a minimum total of just 8.0 or more hours of sunshine now needs to be recorded between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average and there are still another 5 days left of this month after today.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 26.3°C which makes today our hottest day of this year so far once again at the start of a week when it is supposed to be cooling down.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7pm this evening was around 24°C here in Edinburgh.
