Good morning everyone.

Today has started off on a mostly cloudy note here in Edinburgh once again.

However, there are only a few bits and pieces of easterly muck coming in from off the North Sea at times, and the Sun has already made the odd brief appearance at times during this morning.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 6am this morning was around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

More like nighttime than daytime here - the sun's been up for nearly two hours but it's as dark as dusk here.

The reason of course is the heavy blanket of cloud, tied in with an area of storms to the south. Any offshoots of that have fizzled out by the time they get here, so it's dry, humid and breezy (from the NE).

17.8C, dew 16.0C and the overnight low was 17.3C.

Just had a "slight" thunderstorm here at Folkestone. As in about four flashes and just barely enough rain to dampen hard surfaces (0.6 mm so far) and now some blue skies are appearing. A bit weedy but apparently other parts of Kent had it worse.

Still a warm-feeling 17.2 C & 90% h with light winds but doesn't seem to be feeling that humid indoors.

Not surprisingly, our little bit of sunshine didn't last for long and so we are back to constant grey skies once again.

Cloudy, some brightness, 17dc, expect clouds to break and thin by lunch. Was a light easterly breeze overnight which cooled things and ventilated rooms rather than stagnant still muggy nights

The Sun is now back out here in Edinburgh and despite a breeze from off the North Sea, today is looking set to be a bit warmer than yesterday although the temperature as at 12 noon was only around 19°C here in Edinburgh (yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank where it was only around 17°C at this same time during yesterday).

Must admit, nowhere near as bad as forecast. Bright skies, plenty of cloud, no rain, and pleasant temperatures. This can stay and keep everyone happy surely.

What happened to the "deluge of rain and thunderstorms" for the South that was forecast for today? How can they get it so wrong, so often?

They are absolutely appalling. Forecasts in the 1980s were more accurate than this. This must be the only industry that has gone backwards in the last two decades. They couldn't have got it more wrong if they had tried.

I daresay many people changed plans for this weekend based on the forecast. Shocking.
