What a contrast, some 20c colder at yours earlier?

From my phone - my oregon shows 33.3c outside making it the hottest since 9th July 2018.

I think the met and bbc have got this wrong - a few days ago maxes here were meant to be 27's and 28'c's not 30's. - this is the 4th day in the row we have exceeded the +30c mark.

It's getting uncomfortable in the office as I work.

Thermometer on the north wall shows 33.6C and it feels a fair bit warmer inside where I'm typing this.

I think I'll do do a Spanish custom and shut up early today. Yet the house (thatched) across the garden is quite cool inside.

Looks like we've maxed at 28 C in Lakes. Incredibly hot and humid. Isolated torrential downpours breaking out as the cloud tops of the cumulonimbus glaciate.

Clear and sunny now after a slow start. 26c which feels lovely and more bearable than yesterday.

Once again we've breached 30C - turning into a noteworthy heatwave now 🤪

Awful start again with vile low cloud all morning. Fortunately, unlike yesterday, it cleared into a decent sunny afternoon and evening.

No heatwave with a pleasant max of 21.3C which is as high as it's got since Friday and Saturday's high temperatures.

Unfortunately it looks like more rubbish is spilling in now which will make for yet another depressing start tomorrow

Today has ended up being another fairly hot day here in Edinburgh with a maximum temperature of 25.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

That makes today the joint hottest day of this year so far at that particular station alongside 15 July 2021 and 17 July 2021, but the hottest day of this year so far across all three of my local stations was actually on 17 July 2021 when the temperature reached 25.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and it was even hotter than that in Hawick (around 27°C) when I was down there last week.

Today, the botanic gardens in Edinburgh was slightly cooler with a maximum temperature of just 22.9°C.

Now, bits and pieces of easterly muck have started to come in from off the North Sea once again, but the temperature at 9pm this evening is still up at around 20°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
