Hello folks

Here's the weather forecast for the week ahead (including the trafitional written Thoughts)

The Arctic blast continues! The weekend will have more damaging night frost and wintry showers but the coming week will see a gradual recovery in temperatures taking place as high pressure becomes centered over the the UK bringing plenty of dry weather and increasingly pleasant daytime temperatures though nights will continue to be quite cold.

Saturday morning has been mostly dry in the north and west with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers - showers falling mostly as snow across Scotland it must be said - while southern and eastern regions have had more cloud with patchy rain in the south east and wintry showers through central and eastern England as well as the Midlands.

This afternoon will stay cold with plenty of sunny spells and a few wintry showers in the north and west with snow falling to low levels across Scotland once more. England and Wales will have moire cloud with showery rain in the south east corner while the Midlands and eastern/central England will have further wintry showers with a mix of rain hail, sleet and snow over high ground especially. Temperatures will range from 4C to 9C.

Overnight, patchy rain continues across the south east England but the rest of the country should turn mostly dry with showers dying back to coasts. Under clear skies a widespread and locally severe frost will develop with temperatures reaching -8C in the Scottish glens but the south east should stay frost free.

Sunday will start mostly dry with sunny spells and frost. The last of the patchy rain will clear from the south east first thing and then most places will stay dry through the morning but wintry showers will develop across Scotland and Northern Ireland with a band of wintry showers pushing southwards through northern England, Wales, the Midlands and eastern England during tomorrow afternoon. Southern counties could stay mostly dry. Temperatures will be unusually cold for April at 3C to 8C.

Monday will see a weather system working in and eventually introducing less cold or milder air from off the Atlantic ocean.

Monday starts very cold with another damaging frost but also plenty of sunny spells and a few scattered wintry showers. Scotland and north east England should keep plenty of dry weather going with more sunny spells. Northern Ireland, Wales and the rest of England will turn cloudy and damp with showery rain pushing eastwards with the rain possibly accompanied by sleet or snow over high ground. Temperatures might reach 10C across Northern Ireland but generally another very cold day for April at 3C to 8c.

High pressure builds across the country on Tuesday although we could push another weak system into the high pressure.

Most places start Tuesday with another widespread frost although the frost probably won't be as severe as previous nights/mornings. We should have plenty of sunny spells and most places will probably stay dry but a band of cloud and patchy rain may push eastwards into the high pressure during the afternoon. Temperatures range from 5C to 11C.

High pressure is sitting over the country on Wednesday so we should have a near universally dry day but there may be quite a lot of cloud trapped under the high pressure although hopefully some sunny spells break through during the afternoon. Temperatures slowly starting to recover at 6C to 12C. Still a risk of slight frost early and late however.

High pressure is dominating the weather on Thursday,. All places should be dry with bright or sunny spells and variable cloud. Temperatures range from 8C to 14C. Starting to feel spring-like!!!!

High pressure still dominates the weather on Friday but the center is shifting towards Scandinavia which starts to bring in more of an easterly wind in the south.

Most places will be dry and central/northern Britain should have plenty of sunny spells but the south and south east is likely to be cloudy with a freshening easterly wind perhaps bringing a few showers to the south east. Temperatures could reach 15C in the north but 8C but be the best we can get in the south east.

Next weekend should keep high pressure dominating the weather with plenty of dry weather and bright or sunny spells. Temperatures may be cool especially at night.

Summary: Starting cold with damaging night frost and wintry showers. Becoming dry with spring-like temperatures later.
