150 asl here in East Cumbria and its just been very light rain so far today. I'm sure when the clouds disperse I'll be able to see how much whiter the Lakeland fells and the Pennines are

In some ways good; large evap will cool the environment.

Would be good to know where your area is Q? Otherwise it undermines reporting the weather if you have no location or area at least?

Best guess in York.  A few miles east of the centre, perhaps close to the university,  based on his weather reports this winter.

The rain has turned heavier here and there is some sleet mixed in now, slight drop from 2.7c to 2.5c.

I note it is cooler at lower elevations, 1c in York, Saint said it was 0c with rain at his, but still need the milder layer 200m+ to cool sufficiently.

Based on observations it does seem like the snow level is now starting to fall everywhere.

Arpege 12Z and Icon 12Z are a bit uninspiring for Thursday, Northern Pennines, Southern Uplands and Highlands only really. Further north than previous updates from these models.

Nearly ready to give Thursday up round here. Although someone just posted the UKV chart for Thursday 15Z elsewhere which shows 20cm of snow here (assuming the chart is layered correctly over the map). Lets see what Euro 4 (good at 6Z) and ECM (been good last few days, but trending north at 00Z) show.

Well today was a more or less non event here, bit of snow for 20 mins in between the rain...... think Thursday, up here anyway is to be more of an event for high ground north of the central belt.........the hunt goes on lol

I find it really hard on the Meteoceil snow depth charts to decipher what is going on in Scotland as the T+0 all show plenty of snow cover, so hard to know what is existing, what it thinks will melt before Thursday and then what it thinks will be new snow.   The  T+0 charts are shockingly inaccurate for England, many of them have shown snow cover at T+0 in the last few weeks when there has been none.

It's not been as snowy up here as one might think , yes we have had a few snow flurries over the past few weeks but nothing noteworthy.

Take tonight for instance just cold rain here , but I guess some places higher up might be getting some wet snow . What you are saying is correct T+0 forecasts are as bad up here as they have been down South , when they rain we get snow ! When they say snow we get rain .

I am expecting Thursdays event to be much the same as tonight cold rain and sleet unless you happen to live on a mountain top somewhere . I can say with all honesty the Leeds will have had more snow than Kinross this Winter so far it has always been to marginal here. I guess what I am trying to say is Scotland doesn't get as much snow as some might think . Just ask Doc 😉😃   Kinross, Tayside  , Scotland
