Day 3 of lying snow but not for much longer as it raining and with temperature at 4.2C it's disappearing fast. There's a bit of a breeze out there making the 4.2C feel a lot colder and all that combined made walking the dogs this morning a lot easier as they refused to go. 

After a clear night with a frost and a min of 0.7 c at 1.05 am, this morning was rather overcast but stayed dry until it started drizzling about half an hour ago. However, it is actually now starting to brighten up again as I type.

A less frigid but still clammy 6.2 c & 89% h, specially since we've just had this 0.2 mm of drizzle but winds are dead calm at the moment. 

Rain alternating between moderate and heavy.

Murky, misty with low cloud shrouding the hills. Moderate drizzle and a strong SSW wind gusting to 40mph. Temperature a barmy 🌴9.8c.

Here in Edinburgh, a total of 4.0 hours of sunshine was recorded during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

This means that there has now been more sunshine there during this month than the 1981-2010 January average for that particular station which means that regardless of what happens during the rest of this month, this month will now go down as as being sunnier than average.

However, today has been a completely sunless day with some rain around which has now just about, completely got of all of the lying snow which was here, apart from the odd isolated patch of it.

Today's officially recorded maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 2.9°C, and the temperature at 7pm this evening was around 2°C but already refusing to drop here in Edinburgh.
