Yes I heard that - strange really!, unless he has lived elsewhere?

A remarkable 24 hrs, 11C at 2pm with heavy rain, 0.3C at 9pm with heavy snow. Could end up being the weather event of the year, certainly one for te memory banks. Something that you see the States.

Morning!  Nice to see you posting again!
Was fast asleep and missed the snow but having read your post, I looked back on our security cams and sure enough, we had snow.  No sign of it now though.

What an amazing winter! 10cm of snow in Edinburgh after another 12hrs of the stuff. Bigger flakes now with the temperature at 0.5 C.

Thats 18 mornings with snowcover since 1 December and 19 days with snow falling. The most since Nov/Dec 2010

He obviously doesn't remember the Beast or 2010. We had 20cm in 2010 and 12cm in the Beast

Heavy (mostly) snow shower here now, most of our very slushy covering has gone too from last night apart from a bit on cars. A horrible morning out there though.

Detailed snow report!

Just been up the hill for 2 hrs, quite harsh conditions for a small hill in a city!

At the house (70m) 10cm of snow, occasional sleet, slight thaw, 1.5 C

At Royal Observatory (100m) 15cm snow with slight drifting, slight snow

Blackford Hill (152m) 20cm of snow with moderate drifting in strong west wind. Drifts up to 40cm depth. 0 C

Sounds great Jerry! As expected we missed all the fun and games last night, was snowing a wee bit around 6am this morning, left a very slight covering but that was it.....

Yes - don't quite know where he has been in the past but never seen 1" of snow before? :/ Clearly he wasn't around during the BFTE in March 2018, 2013 or December 2010?

Great depths there Jerry and you have rest of January and all of February as well as March too. Scotland is doing exceptionally well for snow this winter (except Aberdeen) Could have been good for Scottish ski resorts but shame they are closed due to lockdown - I think the resorts should open - there is hardly going to be COVID19 on top of Glencoe is there? Encouraging people outdoors is better than being indoors with no ventilation where viruses would spread easier etc.

I just feel that the snow is falling in the same area's and the south (England) is missing out yet again.

Yes, 20cm of snow is very impressive even for a location which is fairly high up.

AHere in the north of Edinburgh, it had also looked as though we had a lot of snow but according to the official 6z SYNOPS data, a snow depth of just 3cm was reported for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which isn't even the highest that this has been during this winter so far.

At the moment, the Sun is shining here in Edinburgh but the temperature has now climbed to 4°C which isn't even all that cold. Because of that, a lot of the snow here in the north of Edinburgh is already in the process of fairly quickly disappearing.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
