Probably due to local factors more than the air mass itself (which would have helped). But I would agree that northerlies are just not what they used to be at all (generally speaking)

Got down to -0.7c here. It's the first air frost I've ever seen here in September. Most years, we won't see an air frost here until November. Not sure whether we got a record in RoI. I don't think that any of the official met stations did but on the National Roads Authority website, I did see Baltinglas at -3.3c which is close.

2.2C and falling this morning, widespread ground frost.

I’m 33 and genuinely don’t recall seeing either an air or ground frost in September before.

Data is not fully released yet for yesterday but I honestly doubt any records were broken here in the Rep, except perhaps for one or two individual stations, but the all time national low I think is safe. The lowest value at the synoptic stations was -1.7c in the midlands and -2.1 in the northwest, but as I said, we'll have to wait another few hours for yesterday's data from the climatological stations to be released by Met Eireann to confirm one way or the other.

Edit, -2.0c confirmed lowest yesterday so nowhere near the record achieved.

Yes, the record stands. I think that one issue with us is that we seem to have far fewer stations that the UK. It's a shame that the TII system can't be used more as this gives a very good geographical spread for temperatures.

Down to a pleasant +1.1c here this morning - not bad considering 2 weeks ago we hit 30c

Great link.

Another one here that has some extra official (and non-official) stations ran by the met but so far, they are exclusive to this site and data from them do not seem to be incorporated into official reports (yet, at least)
