Tomorrow looking like a 37 day in London if the cloud can stay away. I’m assuming there will be no cool surface layer to mix out either, and starting temperatures will be quite high.

Still no official max for Heathrow so I guess it will be 35.5.

Monday 10 August:
Marham, Rothamsted Park and Kenley 32.5°C, Andrewsfield 32.6°C, Herstmonceux 32.8°C, Farnborough 32.9°C, Wisley 34.4°C, Chertsey 34.6°C, Teddington 34.8°C, London St James’s Park 35.1°C, Northolt 35.3°C, Kew Gardens 35.4°C.

They tweeted the 35.2 figure at 4.30pm (BST). It then went higher as the 5pm (1600Z) hourly reading was 35.5.

Usually the 1800Z hourly synop includes a line for the daily maximum (06-18Z), but today that line was missing from the raw data.

So heatwave degree days at the end of day 5 are 0.1 + 6.4 + 4.5 + 4.0 + 5.4 (or possibly 5.5) = 20.4. 2 more days of 35 and one more of, say, 32 would get us up to 32.4.

When I counted the other day, 2003 got to high 30s in total on account of its longevity - 10 days in a row of 30C+ versus what looks like 8 days this time.

Another hot day in Kingston upon Thames.
Thursday was 30c
Friday was 35c
Saturday was 33c
Sunday was 33c
Today was 35c

Have a portable air conditioner for the lounge, but bedrooms uncomfortable, it is currently 27c and this morning at 6am was 20c

Tomorrow is likely to be another day of 35c (maybe degree or two higher)

is it a TiVo box? I haven’t used mine so far today but it’s always on standby

I wondered how Epsom temperatures since last Thursday as there no weather station sadly.  There used to be one by someone but now not there. I am sure they were around 30-31c to 35-36C in the last 5 days.

Was such a warm night and no wonder. London City Airport was the warmest spot with 22C.

So what will today bring. Some showery rain in parts of the SE is their right now, but away from some hits spots.

36C-37C today I think of showers can stay away from key area.

I want a record.

I don’t think there will be a record today.

Lots of showers seem to be breaking out this morning could scupper any chances of mid 30s today.

Once again the cloudy weather persist on this most cloudiest heatwave ever I know, since day one not a single day being wall to wall sunshine anywhere in the UK.

Heathrow and St James’s Park both had a low of 21.2 overnight.

Looks like the Met went with 35.5C as yesterday’s high but a few tenths may well have been lost due to data error as that was only the highest hourly reading and no daily max seems to have been sent.

Sitting outside at 8am and the heat is building rapidly. Wouldn't rule out a record today if the cloud holds off. Out with the blowtorch and in with the flamethrower. Epic heat.

The shower that looked like heading towards me looks like skirting to the NE.

Hopefully West London is clear. Temperatures already up to 23C.

Any records today will need to see temperatures into the 30s by 11am

What’s today’s date record? Surely in with a chance now we’ve passed the peak of the 2003 heatwave dates.

34.7 is the date record. Good luck to those further west in the SE as this morning’s useless showers have wrecked it for areas to the east.
