There is some cloud around but unlike on most days during this summer up until now, there has been the odd sunny spell as well. This means that a total of 6 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 11.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 11.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

Forsooth! What IS this strange clear liquid stuff falling from the sky here at Folkestone?! Indeed it is raining with 1.4 mm in an hour, not exactly grounbreaking (as so to speak) stuff but it is a start.

A rather below par 15.8 c with a moist 94% under overcast skies with the cloud base being low enough to shroud them thar hills,  but winds are much lighter compared to yesterday.

Despite the dull start, it brightened by midday and we’ve had short sunny spells this afternoon bringing the temp up to a very pleasant 21c.

Yet another crap day to end yet another crap June.

Cloudy skies with frequent drizzle showers until mid-afternoon. Just over an hour of sunshine. Temperatures higher than expected though with a max of 17.9C.

The last four days have been yet another dismal cloudy spell of summer weather. Nowhere near as awful as the first half of the month but poor nonetheless

That almost exactly sums up what it has been like here in Edinburgh because although we had a shower of rain during this afternoon, this barely even dampened the ground and course, that wasn't enough to add anything at all to our actual rainfall totals.

We had a bit more in the way of sunshine here overall which is just as well because if we had also had just over an hour of sunshine here in Edinburgh during today, this month would have gone down as our dullest June since 2012.

In the end, a total of 5.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which was just enough and no more, to prevent that scenario from happening (this month was slightly sunnier than June 2017 in the end, though not by much), although this month will still go down as quite a substantially duller than average month here.

It was also slightly warmer here than what it was in Edinburgh (no surprise there, since it's always been freezing cold whenever I've been up there in the past ), though not by much and today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 19.4°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm tonight was around 16°C here in Edinburgh.
