I wonder where the overall CET for this winter is now. Must be well in excess of 6.0C

I can’t remember what the CET for December was but January was over 6c.  The current output suggests February’s will fall though.

So we're heading for this winter to be in the top 5 for mildness.

December's CET was 5.8c, I think the year before was 6.9c, so if February stays at 6.5c we will end up with 6.23c for the winter. It would be the 8th warmest winter on record, tied with 1990.

This month, there seems to have been a repeated pattern whereby cold air (ie 850 temps < -5) sets in quite regularly over UK but with a ridge in close pursuit. Those cold uppers never seem to be adorned with LP more than just fleetingly.

Despite the cooler conditions next week for a few day’s I’m still going for a winter in the top 5 mildest on official record and (for here) another totally snow free one. Hoping the modelled hour of sleet early Weds am doesn’t spoil it.

Rising still and it’s unlikely to fall below 6c now. Will it equal January?

I would expect the CET to have now peaked, and to be pegged back to around 6.4 before corrections so a finish in the region of 6.2 would seem plausible.

That would be slightly lower than January.

So after 2 poor months, December cost me the title but I'm over that now, it looks like with my prediction of 5.81C I could be back to doing reasonably well, not that I'm following this nearly as closely as I was for the last 6 months of last year!

Will this really be the peak?  The output suggests it will.

Going down!  What does everyone think it will it go down to?  Maybe lower than January’s 6.39c
