A rather wet and miserable start to today here in Edinburgh. The result of this is that as at 7am this morning, a total of 8.6 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am yesterday morning, along with 4.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and it is still raining here as I write.

Last night's officially recorded overnight minimum temperature was a mild 8.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 7.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Although the temperatures have now dropped to a little bit below those values during the last few hours, our frost-free horror show goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am was around 6°C here in Edinburgh.

Still hanging onto the brightness and dryness at this end, even the wind is still fairly light . . . but give it a couple or so hours.

9.8 c & 87% h. mod SW breeze.

Some really heavy rain this morning, started as drizzle around 7.45am.  We were out in it doing the shopping, huge puddles everywhere (as Stockport Council can`t be bothered to keep the grids clear.)

Still raining, 9.8mm since it started.

Temp 4.9C

Overnight low 3.1C

It stopped raining for a little while during this morning, but then was then a sudden squall which resulted in the rain becoming much heavier for a while and accompanied by a brief spell of gusty winds.

That has also brought about a sudden drop in the temperatures and now, the rain has turned to sleet and wet snow here in Edinburgh as I write.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was around 3°C here in Edinburgh which is still below last night's officially recorded minimum temperature despite us now being in the middle part of the day.

EDIT:

After that earlier excitement, the precipitation has now cleared away, and the Sun is now out with much clearer skies.

As expected, just managed a last minute burst of sunlight into my famed west-facing hobby just as the clearance came by sunset time.

A chilly feel indoors as outside temps has dribbled down to 5.7 c but think the dampness probably isn't helping much so I'm going to crank up the heating a little in order to feel cosy this evening.

Uncomfortable windchill this afternoon with temperature below 2C before sunset, Humidity fell dramatically too which seemed to enhance the bone-chilling effect of 40mph wind

Here in Edinburgh, the Sun has been out at times, but we have continued to see some further showers at times and as I write, it is raining quite heavily once again as this really wet and miserable month of February goes on in this part of the world.

So far though, that has resulted in a total of 1.8 mm of rain being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am this morning along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 7pm this evening, although a total of 1.9 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and the temperature at 7pm this evening was around 3°C here in Edinburgh.
