It's gone 02:30am here on 13th Feb and I was woken up by torrential rain and icy hail. Temp is around 7c and falling after a high of 10c around midnight here in Exeter. Exceptionally strong howling winds too with occasional lightning!! Very rare to experience thunder and lighting in the month of February!??

Pressure around 1005mb and falling!

This was the scene from my bedroom window on 11/02/20 during freak hail storm which covered all surfaces including roads and pavements for a couple hours!

Like the above post , I was awoken at about 01.45 by really strong winds and hail and very frequent lightning and booming thunder. lasted a good 15 to 20 mins. The convective band has passed and is heading up the channel.

Morning everyone, and welcome to St. Valentine's Eve.

Last night was very promising to begin with as an official air frost was recorded at all three of my local stations (the lowest hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Gogarbank was actually slightly above freezing, but the actual recorded minimum temperature at that station was slightly below freezing which means that there was an official air frost there).

However, it then clouded over with the wind eventually picking up and as that has happened, the temperature has gone back up.

Now, it is raining here in Edinburgh as I write.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was -0.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and -1.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was now up to around 4°C which isn't even the least bit cold.

Still raining with 13.6 mm so far today, also still breezy making the current 8.4 c feel cold.

What a 5h1t day, but hopefully the sun may put in a last minute appearance going by the satellite images.

3.6C here, we've had 17.6mm but at least it's not windy.
Drizzly just now but a heavier area just to north.
Hills are still white but it's thawing there seems to have been about 3-4" lying at Lion Inn mid-morning

The sun has finally broken through, such a relief after the gloom so I can now turn off all indoors lights.

16.2 mm of rain so far today but suddenly feeling chilly at 7.2 c as winds veer to as a light NW.
